Growth Marketing Manager / Marketing Lead

About SortScape

SortScape is software built for lawn mowing, gardening, and outdoor maintenance businesses. We help operators manage their customers, schedules, teams, quotes, invoices, and day-to-day operations in one place.

Our customers are practical, busy business owners who want software that saves time, reduces admin, and helps them run a more organised and profitable business.

We are a small, product-led SaaS company with a strong customer base and a lot of opportunity to grow. We are now looking for a marketing person who can help us generate more leads and turn more of the market into SortScape customers.

The role

We are looking for a switched-on, self-driven marketing person to help grow SortScape.

This is not a role for someone who needs a lot of handholding or wants to wait for detailed instructions every day. We need someone who can understand the product, understand the customer, look at what we are already doing, and help us improve and scale it.

The main focus is lead generation. Based on our experience so far, paid ads have delivered the best return, so that will likely be a major part of the role. The next big opportunity is short-form video content using a mix of customer interview snippets, founder-led content, product demos, and practical advice for lawn and garden business owners.

We already have a website, active paid ads, and an Instagram account, but we have not had the bandwidth to properly build out the content side.

AI, automation, and how we work

We are very interested in using AI tools to move faster, improve marketing output, and automate repetitive work wherever possible.

The right person for this role should be comfortable experimenting with modern AI tools and should actively look for ways to use them in their day-to-day work. That might include using AI to help with ad copy variations, content repurposing, video editing workflows, customer research, campaign analysis, landing page ideas, email sequences, or automating repetitive marketing tasks.

We are not looking for someone who does everything manually just because that is how marketing has traditionally been done. We want someone who is curious, resourceful, and keen to keep pushing the boundaries of what can be automated, systemised, or sped up.

This does not mean blindly outsourcing thinking to AI. The person still needs strong marketing judgement, good taste, and a clear understanding of the customer. But we expect AI tools to be part of the workflow, not an afterthought.

What you will work on

  • Improving and scaling paid ad campaigns, especially Meta/Facebook and Instagram
  • Reviewing our current ads and identifying what is working, what is not, and what to test next
  • Creating new ad concepts, hooks, copy, and creative briefs
  • Helping plan and produce short-form video content
  • Turning customer interviews, product demos, and founder conversations into useful marketing content
  • Building a stronger Instagram and social presence
  • Creating lead-focused campaigns that speak directly to lawn mowing and gardening business owners
  • Helping improve website messaging, landing pages, and conversion flows
  • Writing practical, clear marketing copy that sounds human and not corporate
  • Looking for opportunities to turn existing customer stories into proof, testimonials, and case studies
  • Tracking results and making decisions based on performance, not guesswork
  • Using AI tools to create more content variations, test more ideas, and move faster
  • Finding ways to automate repetitive marketing tasks and build repeatable systems

What we are looking for

The right person will probably have experience in growth marketing, performance marketing, content marketing, or SaaS marketing.

You should be comfortable with:

  • Paid social advertising
  • Writing strong ad copy and hooks
  • Understanding what makes people click, enquire, and sign up
  • Short-form video content strategy
  • Basic campaign reporting and performance analysis
  • Working with founders and turning rough ideas into polished marketing output
  • Moving quickly without needing everything spoon-fed
  • Learning the customer and market properly
  • Using AI tools as part of your everyday marketing workflow
  • Experimenting with automation to improve speed, consistency, and output

Experience with SaaS, trades, home services, small business marketing, or B2B software would be a bonus.

What would make someone a great fit

You would suit this role if you are:

  • Self-driven and proactive
  • Commercially minded
  • Practical rather than overly theoretical
  • Comfortable working in a small business where priorities can shift
  • Good at turning messy ideas into clear campaigns
  • Interested in what actually generates leads, not just vanity metrics
  • Able to write in a clear, direct, human tone
  • Willing to test, learn, and improve quickly
  • Comfortable using AI tools to move faster and improve output
  • Curious about automation and always looking for ways to systemise repetitive marketing work
  • Excited by the idea of helping a small team punch above its weight

What would not be a good fit

  • This probably is not the right role if you mainly want to manage social media posts without being responsible for lead generation.
  • It is also probably not the right fit if you need a large team, a detailed playbook, or constant direction. We are happy to collaborate and provide context, but we do not currently have the time for heavy handholding.
  • It is also unlikely to suit someone who is resistant to AI tools, automation, or experimenting with new ways of working.

Current marketing assets

To get a feel for SortScape, you can look at:

  • The SortScape website: sortscape.com.au
  • The current SortScape ads in the Facebook Ad Library by searching for "SortScape"
  • The SortScape Instagram account: @sortscapeapp

These will give you a sense of the product, the market, and the type of messaging we are currently using.

What success looks like

Success in this role means helping SortScape generate more quality leads from lawn mowing, gardening, and outdoor maintenance businesses.

In practical terms, that could mean:

  • Better performing paid ad campaigns
  • More useful short-form video content
  • More enquiries and trials from the right types of customers
  • Clearer messaging across ads, landing pages, and social channels
  • A repeatable marketing process that we can keep improving over time
  • Smarter use of AI and automation to increase output without adding unnecessary complexity

How to apply

Please send through a short note explaining your relevant experience and why you think you could help grow SortScape.

It would also be helpful to include examples of campaigns, ads, content, or marketing work you have been involved in, especially anything focused on lead generation, SaaS, small business, or trades/home service businesses.

If you have examples of how you have used AI tools or automation to improve your marketing workflow, we would be interested to hear about that too.

Email your application to support@sortscape.com.
