Changing a property service address
Last updated:
If a client moves to a different location, you need to update the service address for their property. There are two general approaches:
Approach 1: Create a new property
Section titled “Approach 1: Create a new property”- Create a new property for the contact with the updated address.
- Archive the old property.
- Re-create the repeating visits for the new property.
- Recreate any issues for the new property. Benefits:
-
Keeps the issues and visit history for the old address separate from the new address.
-
Maintains clear historical data for both old and new properties. Downsides:
-
Requires additional steps to set up repeating visits and issues for the new property.
Approach 2: Update the existing property address
Section titled “Approach 2: Update the existing property address”- Edit the address for the existing property record. Benefits:
-
Simpler and faster as it maintains the existing property record.
-
Ensures the customer’s visit repeating schedule continues uninterrupted. Downsides:
-
Visit history will be associated with the new property address, potentially mixing up past visit records.
-
Future visits may need to be rescheduled based on the new address’s place in your run schedule.
Recommendation
Section titled “Recommendation”- If visit and issue history accuracy is important, use Approach 1.
- If simplicity and continuity are prioritized, use Approach 2.
