What if I have trouble connecting to SortScape?

Last updated:

If you are having trouble connecting to SortScape, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to identify and fix your connection issues:

1. Check if you are able to connect to other websites. If not then your entire network connection might be down.

2. Check all your network connections…try on both wifi and on mobile data. Does it work on one and not the other? Occasionally certain internet service providers might disrupt their connection to SortScape but not other websites.

3. If accessing SortScape through a VPN, the VPN may be blocking your access to SortScape. Try disabling the VPN and then accessing SortScape without going through the VPN.

4. Try logging into SortScape from a different device. Is it working on one device but not another? Then the problem might be device-specific.

5. If you are having trouble accessing SortScape through your web browser, try clearing your cookies and cache. If that doesn’t work, try disabling any browser extensions you might have enabled.

6. If you are having trouble accessing SortScape through the mobile app, you can try uninstalling and then reinstalling the mobile app

7. If SortScape works on other phones but not this one, the device may be too old. Phones older than about five years often struggle with SortScape even when the app can be installed. See Does SortScape have a mobile app? for device guidance.

8. If you are on a Mac and SortScape opens in its own window rather than in Safari or Chrome, and shows “Unable to connect”, you have an old copy of our iPad app installed from the Mac App Store. The app is no longer offered for Mac, so that copy cannot update and no longer connects. Delete it from your Applications folder and use SortScape in your browser at app.sortscape.com instead. You can bookmark that page or add it to your Dock so it opens like an app.
