What happens when I delete a jobrun?

Last updated:

To cancel one customer visit, Skip it instead of deleting the job run.

  1. Open Schedule.
  2. Find the job run (the day and crew column).
  3. Click the menu at the top of the column.
  4. Click Delete job run.
  5. To remove later empty runs for the same crew, select Also delete future empty job runs for this crew.
  6. Click Delete job run. Any visits still in the selected run move to Unscheduled.

When you delete a job run from the schedule, here’s what happens:

Visits in the jobrun are not deleted - they just become unscheduled

Section titled “Visits in the jobrun are not deleted - they just become unscheduled”

All visits that were scheduled in that jobrun are kept but moved to the Unscheduled Visits column. You can then reschedule these visits to a different day. Any future repeating visits remain unaffected.

If you select Also delete future empty job runs for this crew, SortScape also removes every later run for that crew that has no visits or schedule notes. Employee assignments do not prevent an empty run from being removed. Runs with visits or schedule notes stay in place.

The staff members who were assigned to work that day will be unassigned.

If you had calculated a route for that day (travel time and distance between jobs), that information will be deleted. You’ll need to recalculate the route if you reschedule the jobs.

Deleting a jobrun from the schedule is a way to remove scheduling information without losing your job data. Think of it as “unscheduling” rather than “deleting” - your jobs are still there, just waiting to be scheduled for a different day.

Deleting a job run does not delete the crew itself. The crew and its employees stay in place. Job runs on other days also stay unless you choose the future empty-run option.

If you are trying to change which crew handles future repeating visits, do not delete the crew. See Changing the crew on an existing job run, or Moving one crew’s future visits onto another crew if the destination crew already has visits that day.

Empty job runs stay on the schedule until you delete them. You can leave one in place as a reminder that a crew’s day still needs to be planned.

To remove one, use … → Delete job run on that column. Because it is empty, nothing is added to Unscheduled. Select the future empty-run option if you also want to clean up later placeholders for the same crew.

For a public holiday or company closure, use blocked days instead. A blocked day displays a clear label across the schedule and roster. Do not use Clear schedule unless you want every upcoming visit gone from that date.

Tip: If you want to move jobs to a different day instead of unscheduling them, use the “Move” feature instead of deleting the day. Please see Rescheduling Visits in SortScape for more information.
