What do the timesheet icons mean?
Last updated:
When viewing your timesheet in SortScape, you may see icons next to your hours. Here is what they mean.
Red exclamation mark (daily total)
Section titled “Red exclamation mark (daily total)”A red exclamation mark next to your daily total means SortScape has detected overlapping hours on that day. Your individual time entries add up to more time than could fit between your earliest start and latest finish for the day.
This is a reminder to review that day’s entries. It is not related to timesheet approvals or submission status.
On desktop: hover over the icon to see the message “Overlapping hours may exist for this user on this date.”
On the mobile app: the icon does not show a message when you tap it. If you need the full explanation, open your timesheet on desktop, or review that day’s start and finish times to find where the overlap is.
How to fix overlapping hours
Section titled “How to fix overlapping hours”Review the start and finish times on each entry for that day. Common causes include:
- two entries covering the same time period
- hours entered manually that overlap with hours synced from a visit
- a mistake in start or finish times on one or more entries
Edit or delete the incorrect entries so the total hours fit within your working day.
Timer icon (individual entries)
Section titled “Timer icon (individual entries)”A timer icon next to an individual hour entry means those hours were logged using the visit timer on a visit, rather than entered manually on the timesheet.
This happens when Auto-add visit hours to timesheets is enabled in your timesheet settings. See Timesheets administration for more about this setting.
Timesheet hours and visit timer hours are tracked separately in SortScape. Timesheets record all the time you work, while the visit timer records time spent on a specific visit. When auto-add is turned on, visit timer hours are copied to your timesheet automatically.
For more on using the visit timer, see Visit timer.
