Can I send text messages from my own number?

Last updated:

It’s generally not possible to send text messages that display as coming from your mobile phone number as this could be misused by scammers to pretend they are you.

Any text messages sent by SortScape will come from a number which is assigned to us by the SMS provider we use and will be different in each country.

Showing a callback number inside the message is different. Template tags such as user_mobile insert a phone number in the message text (for example “call me on …”). That number comes from the sender’s SortScape user profile, not from the SMS sender ID above. To change it, update the sender’s profile mobile, change who an automatic reminder is sent from, or type your preferred number directly in the template. See The user_mobile tag.

We do capture any replies to text messages sent through SortScape and will notify you via email. You can also turn on push notifications for text message replies in the SortScape mobile app (Notifications in the menu). See Email and push notifications for how to enable push and choose which alerts you receive. Replies also appear in Customer Messages for administrators—in a browser, this link is in the top right hand corner and in the app it is at the bottom.
