Blocked days

Last updated:

Blocked days let you mark dates when the business is closed or you want everyone to notice a special day, such as public holidays, company shutdowns, or a team offsite. Those dates are highlighted on the schedule and the employee roster.

Blocked days are a visual feature only. They help your team spot closed days while planning, but they do not:

  • Stop you from scheduling visits on those dates
  • Block drag-and-drop, auto-assign, or repeating visit generation
  • Automatically move, skip, or reschedule existing jobs

If you need to stop a specific employee from being scheduled, use roster availability instead.

You can open blocked days in either of these ways:

Only administrators can open this page.

If public holiday import is available for your country, you can turn on Automatically add public holidays.

  1. Open SettingsVisitsBlocked days.
  2. Turn on Automatically add public holidays.
  3. Choose your region (for example, New South Wales or Victoria in Australia), then click Save.

SortScape adds upcoming public holidays for that region, including observed dates when a holiday falls on a weekend. Future holidays keep updating as the calendar moves forward.

If public holidays are not available for your country yet, you can still add blocked days manually.

  • To switch region, turn auto-import off and back on, then choose the new region. Future holidays for the previous region are replaced.
  • Turning auto-import off removes future imported public holidays. Manual blocked days and past imported holidays stay in place.

Use this for company closures, training days, or any date that is not a public holiday.

  1. Open SettingsVisitsBlocked days.
  2. Click Add blocked day.
  3. Choose the date and enter a name (for example, “Christmas shutdown” or “Team training”).
  4. Click Save.

You can only have one active blocked day per date. The list defaults to Upcoming. Switch to All dates if you need to see past blocked days.

  • Manual blocked days can be edited or removed.
  • Public holiday blocked days can be removed, but not renamed. That keeps re-imports from overwriting your changes.

To remove a blocked day:

  1. Open SettingsVisitsBlocked days.
  2. Find the day in the list and choose Remove.
  3. Confirm.

If you remove a future imported public holiday, SortScape will not add that same holiday back automatically. There is currently no restore button for a removed holiday.

What you will see on the schedule and roster

Section titled “What you will see on the schedule and roster”

Blocked days appear as a labelled highlight on:

  • The schedule (day, week, and month views)
  • The employee roster

The label shows the blocked day name, such as “Christmas Day” or “Team offsite”. Visits already on that day stay where they are, and you can still add more work there if you need to.
