FAQ - Why do end dates get added to my repeating jobs?

Last updated:

You may notice that some of your repeating jobs have “end dates” added to them even though you never added an end date to those jobs. This happens to ensure that repeating jobs are accurately managed without overlap or unwanted scheduling.

For example, a job might say “$50 every 2 weeks on Thu until 01 May ‘25”

This occurs in two scenarios:

When a repeating job is deleted, the last scheduled job before the deletion will automatically have an “end date” added to prevent future jobs from being created.

Example: If you delete a job scheduled for May 15th in a biweekly series, all jobs from May 15th onward will be removed. The job scheduled for May 1st will then have May 1st as its end date.

Prefer Skip for a one-off cancellation; use Delete only when ending the service from that point onward. You can also add an end date yourself to stop a series. See Stop a repeating job. See Cancelling a job.

When you drag a repeating job to a new date and click Confirm on Apply to future jobs in this series, SortScape splits the series in two. The original series gets an end date at its last job before the move, and a new series starts from the moved job. For example, if you move the May 15th job to May 16th, you may see two repeating jobs on the property:

  • $50 every 2 weeks on Thu until 01 May ‘25
  • $50 every 2 weeks on Fri starting 16 May ‘25

See Moving repeating jobs and understanding end dates for when to apply a move to future jobs and how to undo it.
