How do I add extra work to a repeating visit without changing future visits?
Last updated:
When you edit a repeating visit, changes like estimated time and work required apply to that visit and all future visits in the series. There is no built-in way to extend the duration of a single visit in a series without affecting the rest.
Workaround: add a one-off visit for the extra work
Section titled “Workaround: add a one-off visit for the extra work”Create a separate one-off visit on the same day (or right after) the repeating visit. Put the extra work and time on that one-off visit. Leave the repeating visit unchanged.
- Open Schedule on the day of the repeating visit.
- Add a new visit for the same property.
- Set Repeats to Never so it is a one-off visit.
- Enter the extra work required and set the estimated time for that extra work only.
- Add any invoice items for the extra charge if needed.
- Save the visit and place it on the schedule next to (or just after) the regular repeating visit.
Your crew then sees two visits for that property: the regular repeating one, plus the one-off for the extra work.
For more on creating one-off visits, see Scheduling new visits.
Invoice both visits together
Section titled “Invoice both visits together”You can still put both visits on one invoice:
- Open Invoicing.
- Select the Completed or Visits pending invoicing tab (not Invoices).
- Search for the property, or use Group by → Group by property.
- Select both visits and click Invoice, then complete the Create invoice form.
See From the Invoicing screen for more detail.
If you only need an extra charge, not extra scheduled hours
Section titled “If you only need an extra charge, not extra scheduled hours”If the regular visit already has enough time on the schedule and you only need to charge more, add a one-off invoice line item on the existing visit instead. See How do I change the price on just one visit without changing future visits?.
What not to do
Section titled “What not to do”Do not click Edit on the repeating visit and change estimated time or work required. That updates the current visit and all future visits in the series.
