How do I change the price on just one visit without changing future visits?

Last updated:

Add an extra invoice line item on that specific visit. Your regular repeating price stays the same on future visits.

This is the standard approach for fixed-price visits when you need extra work, materials, or a one-time surcharge on top of the usual charge.

  1. Open Schedule and click the visit you want to change.
  2. Stay in view mode. Do not click Edit on the repeating visit series.
  3. In Invoice items, add a line item with the extra description and price.
  4. Check the icon next to the new line item. A “1” icon means it applies to this visit only. A circular repeating icon means it will apply to every visit in the series.

See One-off charges on a single visit for a screenshot showing repeating vs one-off line items.

Do not open Edit on the repeating visit and change the price on an existing line item. That updates the price on all future visits in the series.

If the visit is billed hourly based on time logged (time and materials), you may be able to set a custom hourly rate on that visit instead. That requires the experimental “Hourly rates on visits” feature. See Setting hourly rates on visits.
